About Sphinx dollii Neumoegen, 1881

Sphinx dollii, commonly known as Doll's sphinx moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Sphingidae. This species occurs in arid brushlands and desert foothills, ranging from Nevada and southern California eastward through Utah, Arizona, and Colorado, and extending from New Mexico to Oklahoma and Texas. The wingspan of adult Doll's sphinx moth measures 45 to 63 mm. This moth has one generation per year, with adults active in flight from June to August. The larvae of Sphinx dollii feed on species in the genus Juniperus, including Juniperus deppeana.
