Spermacoce glabra, commonly called smooth false buttonweed, is a New World plant species belonging to the coffee family. This species is widely distributed across large areas of both North America and South America. In the United States, it grows in the southern Mississippi Valley, ranging from Illinois to Louisiana. Its range extends west into Texas, Oklahoma, and eastern Kansas, and east along the Ohio River. Isolated populations have been reported further east, in Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. The species is also found in southern Mexico (specifically in Tabasco and Campeche), Honduras, and multiple countries across South America: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina.
