Sorghastrum secundum (Elliott) Nash is a grass species commonly called lopsided Indiangrass. It is native to the Southeastern United States. This species is a perennial bunchgrass that can grow up to 1.8 meters (6 feet) tall. Its flat leaf blades reach up to 610 millimeters (24 inches) in length, and it has a pointed ligule. Its inflorescence grows along one side of the stem. This plant provides forage for livestock, grows best on well-drained soils, and acts as a larval host plant for the pepper-and-salt skipper.
