About Sorbus randaiensis (Hayata) Koidz.

Sorbus randaiensis (Hayata) Koidz. is a species of deciduous tree. Its branches have distinct, visible lenticels. In terms of phenology, new spring leaves sprout between April and May. Inflorescences form from around May to June. Fruits ripen to a ruby color between September and October. Between October and November, its leaves turn yellow or red before falling off the tree. The fruit, stem, and bark of this species can be used for medicinal purposes. Although it has a bitter taste, it is used to treat chronic bronchitis and cough with phlegm, and also acts as a spleen tonic. The ripe fruits are juicy, sweet, and have a pleasant taste.
