Solidago mollis Bartl. is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the Asteraceae family. Its common names include velvety goldenrod, soft goldenrod, and Ashly goldenrod. This species is native to central Canada and the central United States, growing primarily across the Great Plains. Its native range extends south from the Canadian Prairie Provinces to Texas and New Mexico. Solidago mollis is a perennial herb that grows up to 70 cm (2.3 ft) tall and has creeping rhizomes. Its leaves are either egg-shaped or lance-shaped, reaching up to 10 cm (4 in) in length, and are covered in soft, fine hairs. A single plant can produce up to 300 small yellow flower heads, arranged in a branching cluster at the top of the stem.
