About Solidago fistulosa Mill.

Scientific name: Solidago fistulosa Mill. Commonly called pine barren goldenrod, Solidago fistulosa is a plant species native to low-lying coastal regions of eastern North America. It can be found growing in every state bordering the Gulf of Mexico or Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Louisiana to New Jersey. Its typical growing locations include bogs, marsh edges, drainage ditches, and similar sites. This species is an herb that can reach up to 150 cm (5 feet) in height, and spreads via underground rhizomes. It produces winged petioles and broad leaf blades. It can sometimes grow as many as 500 small yellow flower heads, arranged in large branching arrays.
