About Solidago curtisii Torr. & A.Gray

Solidago curtisii Torr. & A.Gray, commonly known as Curtis' goldenrod and mountain decumbent goldenrod, is a North American flowering plant species belonging to the family Asteraceae. It is native to the eastern United States, ranging from Pennsylvania south to Mississippi and Alabama, and grows primarily in the southern Appalachian Mountains. This species is a perennial herb that can reach up to 100 cm (40 inches) in height, and it has a thick, woody underground caudex. Its stem is narrow, wiry, and dark purple. A single Solidago curtisii plant can produce as many as 800 small yellow flower heads, which grow in small clumps in the axils of its leaves.
