Its distribution ranges from northern Xinjiang, across northern China, Mongolia, and southeastern Siberia, to the Russian Far East and Japan. From there, its range extends south through Korea and Taiwan to Hainan, Yunnan, and eastern Tibet. The wingspan of adult moths measures between 70 and 100 mm. In western China, there are likely two generations of the moth per year.
