About Sisyrinchium albidum Raf.

Sisyrinchium albidum Raf., commonly called white blue-eyed grass, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Iridaceae family. Its stem is typically pale grey and threadlike, growing between 0.2 and 0.5 meters tall, and measuring 0.5 to 1 millimeter wide. The plant's narrow, stiff leaves are also 0.5 to 1 millimeter wide. It is distinguished by its twinned spathes paired with its leaf characteristics; these spathes are green with purple tints, and reach 1.5 to 2 centimeters in height. The outer portion of the flower, which includes the petals, ranges in color from white to violet and is 8 to 10 millimeters long. The plant's fruits measure 2 to 4 millimeters long and are pale yellow-green in color. This species occurs mostly in eastern North America.
