About Sisymbrium orientale L.
Sisymbrium orientale L. is a flowering plant species in the Brassicaceae family, commonly called Indian hedgemustard and eastern rocket. It is native to Europe, Asia, and North Africa. It has been introduced across much of the temperate world, and is a common roadside weed in some regions. This annual herb grows a hairy, branching stem that reaches around 30 centimeters in height. Its basal leaves are split into deep lobes or toothed leaflets. Leaves growing higher on the stem have lance-shaped blades, with small separate lobes near the base. A raceme of flowers sits at the top of the stem; each flower has light yellow petals up to one centimeter long. Its fruit is a silique that can grow up to 10 centimeters in length.
