About Silene viscosa (L.) Pers.

Silene viscosa, commonly known as the white sticky catchfly, is a flowering plant species that belongs to the family Caryophyllaceae. It is native to cool-temperate regions of eastern Europe, western Siberia, and western and central Asia, and has been introduced to Germany. Molecular analysis of this species has found that it contains two highly distinct genetic lineages: one western lineage and one eastern lineage. This pattern suggests that one of these lineages represents a cryptic species.
