Silene verecunda S.Watson is an extremely variable plant species. Generally, it is a perennial herb that grows between 10 centimeters and over half a meter tall, and it usually produces several erect stems. The plant has a hairy texture, and is typically glandular and sticky. Its leaves are lance-shaped and variable in size, with the largest leaves usually growing at the caudex. Each individual flower is enclosed in a tubular calyx made of fused sepals, which is marked with ten veins along its length. The petals are either white or pink, they have two lobes at their tips, and two appendages at their bases.
