About Silene flos-jovis (L.) Desr.

Silene flos-jovis, commonly called flower-of-Jove, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Caryophyllaceae. It is native to the central Alps, where it occurs at elevations between 1,000 and 2,400 m (3,281 and 7,874 ft). This plant is a mat-forming perennial that grows 20 to 60 cm (8 to 24 in) tall and up to 45 cm (18 in) wide. It has hairy grey-green leaves and produces clusters of notched pink flowers throughout the summer. Under its older scientific name Lychnis flos-jovis, this plant has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
