About Silene banksia (Meerb.) Mabb.

Silene banksia (Meerb.) Mabb., also known by the synonym Silene sieboldii, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family. Its native range includes southeastern Siberia, most of China, and North Korea, and it has been introduced to both Mongolia and Japan. This species has two common names: Chinese lychnis and jian chun luo. It is classified as a cultigen, meaning it was domesticated in northeast Asia, almost certainly within China, at some point in the distant past. No wild individuals of this species are known to exist.
