Sida acuta Burm.fil., commonly known as common wireweed, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the mallow family, Malvaceae. It is thought to have originally come from Central America. It currently has a pantropical distribution and is classified as a weed in some regions. In northern Australia, it is recognized as an invasive species. The beetle Calligrapha pantherina has been introduced there as a biological control agent to manage this plant population.
