About Sicalis columbiana Cabanis, 1851
The orange-fronted yellow finch (Sicalis columbiana) is a South American bird species that belongs to the Thraupidae family. It has a strongly disjunct distribution: the subspecies S. c. columbiana lives in Colombia and Venezuela, while the subspecies S. c. goeldii occurs both along the Amazon River in Brazil and in east-central Brazil. This species inhabits semi-open regions, most often located near water, and can sometimes be found near human settlements. Males of this species closely resemble the saffron finch, but are smaller, have a more sharply contrasting orange front, and have dusky lores. Females are overall olive-gray with whitish underparts, and have yellow coloring on the wings and tail.
