Technical description and variation. C. scrophulariae Cap. (27 h). This species has a less broad wing shape than Shargacucullia verbasci. Its forewings are paler and duller in overall coloration. The dark brown costal streak is overlaid with grey, making it paler than the streaks located on the inner margin. The ground colour below the median is barely paler, and not strikingly whitish. The hindwing looks much the same as that of verbasci. The wingspan of this species is about 45 mm.
