About Setophaga vitellina (Cory, 1886)
This species strongly resembles the prairie warbler. It shares the prairie warbler's streaked belly, yellow-green back, and faint yellow wingbars, but differs in the intensity of its black streaks. Its song consists of a sequence of 4 to 5 rising, harsh, buzzy notes. In terms of ecology, this species typically lives in dry woodland that has a large amount of scrub. It can tolerate some human-caused disturbance, and since humans arrived in its range, it has started to settle in more urbanized areas.
