About Sesleria albicans Kit. ex Schult.
Sesleria albicans Kit. ex Schult. is a perennial, caespitose species. It produces erect, slender culms that measure 10โ45 centimetres (3.9โ17.7 in) in length. Its ligule forms a ciliolate membrane, ranging from 0.2โ0.4 millimetres (0.0079โ0.0157 in) long. The leaf blades are flat, 10โ25 centimetres (3.9โ9.8 in) long, and 1.5โ3 millimetres (0.059โ0.118 in) wide. The inflorescence is a capitated panicle that is oblong or ovate, measuring 1โ3 centimetres (0.39โ1.18 in) long by 0.5โ0.7 centimetres (0.20โ0.28 in) wide. Spikelets are solitary and oblong, 4โ7 millimetres (0.16โ0.28 in) long, with fertile spikelets born on pedicels. Sterile spikelets grow in pairs, and the spikelets carry 2โ3 fertile florets. Both the upper and lower glumes are 4โ7 millimetres (0.16โ0.28 in) long; they are ovate, membranous, and glaucous, with a single keel and a single vein, and acuminated, muticous apexes. The fertile lemma is ovate, membranous, and 4โ6 millimetres (0.16โ0.24 in) long. Its flowers have three stamens, two stigmas, and are hairy. The fruits are caryopses with an additional pericarp, a hairy apex, and an elliptic hilum.
