About Sesamia nonagrioides (Lefèbvre, 1827)

Sesamia nonagrioides (Lefèbvre, 1827), commonly known as the Mediterranean corn borer, pink stalk borer, or West African pink borer, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It was first described by Alexandre Louis Lefèbvre de Cérisy in 1827. This species can be found in Spain, southern France, Italy, the Balkan Peninsula, and across north-western, south-western, and western Africa. Adults have a wingspan that measures 30 to 40 mm. The larvae of Sesamia nonagrioides feed on Phragmites communis and Arundo donax, and they likely also feed on other thick-stemmed grass species.
