About Serratula coronata L.

Serratula is a genus of flowering plants in the tribe Cardueae of the family Asteraceae, and it is native to Eurasia. The common name plumeless saw-wort refers to plants in this genus. As traditionally defined, the genus Serratula contains at least two distinct groups: one group is basal within the subtribe Centaureinae, while the other is derived. The basal group can be reclassified and moved to the genus Klasea. Multiple species within this group of plants contain apigenin, luteolin, quercetin, other flavonoids, and ecdysteroids. Many species that were formerly included in the genus Serratula are now classified as members of other genera.
