The variable sallow moth, with the scientific name Sericaglaea signata, is a moth species that belongs to the family Noctuidae. This species is distributed across eastern North America, ranging from Connecticut south to Florida, and extending west to Missouri and Texas. The wingspan of adult variable sallow moths measures between 35 and 43 mm. Adults produce one generation per year, and are active on wing from October through May. The adult moths overwinter to survive cold seasons. The larvae of this species feed on the leaves of plant species from the genera Quercus, Prunus and Tilia.
