About Senna phyllodinea (R.Br.) Symon
Senna phyllodinea is a spreading, bushy shrub that typically reaches a maximum height of 1.5 meters (4 feet 11 inches). Immature individuals have pinnate leaves, while the leaves of mature plants are reduced to curved phyllodes. These phyllodes are 15 to 60 mm (0.59 to 2.36 inches) long and 2 to 8 mm (0.079 to 0.315 inches) wide, and are covered with silvery hairs pressed flat against their surface. The flowers of this species are yellow, arranged in racemes near the ends of branches. Each flower has petals 7 to 10 mm (0.28 to 0.39 inches) long, and contains ten fertile stamens. Flowering can occur throughout the year, and the fruit produced is a flat, curved pod. This pod is 30 to 100 mm (1.2 to 3.9 inches) long and 8 to 13 mm (0.31 to 0.51 inches) wide. This species grows in a range of soil types in arid areas, and is found in western New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
