About Senna lindheimeriana (Scheele) H.S.Irwin & Barneby
Senna lindheimeriana, commonly known as velvet leaf senna, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the family Fabaceae. This species is native to the U.S. states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas, as well as eastern Mexico. It is a perennial plant that typically grows to 1.5 m (5 ft) in height, and is hardy to USDA zone 8a. It is recommended for use in xeriscaping, and for providing food for birds, butterflies, and bumblebees. Senna lindheimeriana is thought to be lethally toxic to livestock, but it has such a foul odor and is so unpalatable that only starving mammals will eat it.
