About Senecio macroglossus DC.
This species, scientifically named Senecio macroglossus DC., is an evergreen climber that can reach 3 m (10 ft) or more in height. It bears waxy triangular leaves that grow up to 8 cm (3 in) long. Single, yellow, daisy-like composite flowerheads are produced during the summer months. Because it requires a minimum temperature of 5–7 °C (41–45 °F), it is very commonly grown as a houseplant in temperate regions. Many cultivars have been developed for cultivation; the cultivar 'Variegatus', which has cream-coloured leaf margins, has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
