Senecio abruptus Thunb. is an annual plant that reaches a maximum height of 60 cm, or 2.0 feet. Its leaves vary in shape and margin type; they can be elongated oval, toothed, or have slightly feathery margins, and the base of each leaf may be lobed. This species produces small yellow flowers arranged in disc-shaped flowerheads, which appear from July through November. It grows on stony slopes in a region of South Africa that extends between the Cape Peninsula and Clanwilliam.
