About Sedum hispanicum L.
Sedum hispanicum L. is a glabrous or slightly pubescent annual stonecrop that grows 5 to 15 cm tall, with branching stems. Its alternate, linear leaves are 7–10 mm long and rounded in cross-section. Its flowers are most commonly six-parted, but may occasionally be 7–9-parted, arranged in unilateral cymes. Sepals are ovate with pointed tips. Petals are 5–7 mm long, lanceolate, acuminate, white with a purple midrib. Carpels are arranged in a star shape. This species flowers from March to June. It is native to the region stretching from south-central and southeastern Europe to Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. Despite having the specific epithet hispanicum, this stonecrop is not native to Spain. It grows best in loose rocky soil that provides good drainage.
