Scutellaria minor Huds. reaches a maximum height of 25 centimetres (9.8 inches). It bears narrowly ovate leaves that grow in opposite arrangements along its stem. Flowers emerge from the axils of its upper leaves; these flowers have a pinkish purple corolla that measures 6 to 10 millimetres (0.24 to 0.39 inches) in length. This species has a southern temperate distribution across Europe. It grows in wet heaths and open woodland that have acidic soils. In the British Isles, it is only found in southern and western regions, and its range extends north as far as the Outer Hebrides.
