Scutellaria integrifolia L. is a plant species that grows to between 1.5 and 8 decimeters tall, which is approximately 6 to 31.5 inches. Its leaves vary in size by position on the plant: lower leaves measure 0.7 to 3.5 centimeters in length, while upper leaves reach 2.5 to 6 centimeters in length. When the plant blooms, its petals grow between 1.3 and 2.5 centimeters long. This species is found in the Coastal Plain region of the United States. Its native habitats include pine savannas, mixed woodlands, creek banks, and oak-hickory woods. It is frequently found growing at sites that have been burned in the past. It can grow in a range of soil types, including loamy soil, sandy loam, loamy clay, and peaty soil.
