About Scutellaria elliptica Muhl.

Scutellaria elliptica Muhl., commonly known as hairy skullcap, has stems that grow between 1.5 and 8 decimeters, which is 6 to 31.5 inches, tall. Its leaves range in shape from elliptic to rhombic-ovate, measuring 3 to 8 centimeters (approximately 1.18 to 3.15 inches) long and 1.5 to 4 centimeters (approximately 0.6 to 1.6 inches) wide. This species produces blue flowers. This skullcap is native to multiple states in the United States, with a range extending from Texas in the west to New York in the east, and from Michigan in the north to Florida in the south. According to NatureServe, its global conservation status is secure. In the US Coastal Plain region, Scutellaria elliptica has been recorded growing in upland pine communities.
