Scutellaria antirrhinoides Benth. is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, with the common names nose skullcap and snapdragon skullcap. It is native to the western United States, growing in forests, woodlands, and open, rocky habitat types. This is a perennial herb that grows one or a cluster of erect stems up to 35 centimeters tall from a system of thin rhizomes. Stems are covered in short, upward-angled or curled hairs, and sometimes bear resin glands. The oppositely arranged oval leaves are covered in tiny hairs, with the lowest leaves growing on short petioles. Flowers emerge from the leaf axils. Each flower sits in a calyx of sepals that has a large ridge or appendage on its upper section. The corolla is up to 2 cm long and tubular, with distinct large upper and lower lips. The upper lip folds into a beaklike protrusion, and the lower lip has three flat lobes. The corolla ranges in color from purple to blue, with a patch of white mottling on the lower lip.
