Scotopteryx coarctaria is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae. It can be found across most of Europe, but is absent from Ireland, Great Britain, Portugal, Belgium, Fennoscandia, and the Baltic region. It has also been officially recorded in Turkey and Kazakhstan. There are most likely two generations of this species every year. The larvae of Scotopteryx coarctaria feed on plant species from the genera Genista and Cytisus. This species overwinters while it is in the larval life stage.
