Scorzoneroides autumnalis is a perennial herb that typically grows up to 35 centimeters tall. It usually has branched stems and multiple flower heads, each measuring approximately 30 millimeters across. All of its florets are ligulate and bright yellow in color. All of its leaves are basal, with a linear-oblong shape. It is frequently found growing in the habitat of damp grassland and meadows. It is abundant across Ireland and Great Britain. It flowers from June to October, and this flowering produces achenes as part of its reproduction. The fly species Tephritis leontodontis is known to attack the capitula of this plant.
