About Scopula emutaria (Hübner)

Scopula emutaria, commonly known as the rosy wave, is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. Its known distribution includes western and south-western Europe, Romania, and North Africa. This species typically has a wingspan of 23–26 millimetres (0.91–1.02 in), though some individuals have a wingspan ranging from 20–24 millimetres (0.79–0.94 in). It can be easily identified by its whitish base wing color that carries a slight to strong pink flush. The most distinctive marking is a straight, broad line that runs across the wing toward the wing tip. Adult rosy waves are active on the wing from June to July. It is a strictly coastal species. The larvae of Scopula emutaria feed on sea beet and Armeria maritima.
