Sclerocroton integerrimus Hochst. is a small to medium-sized tree that can reach up to 15 meters in height. Its natural distribution ranges from the coastal areas of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, extending into Mozambique and Botswana. This species has several documented uses: its leaves are used in traditional medicine as a mouthwash and to treat toothache; its fruits are used to make black ink and for tanning, and are also eaten by livestock; its wood is used to make furniture and for hut building.
