About Scleranthus perennis L.

Scleranthus perennis L., commonly known as perennial knawel, is a perennial herbaceous species belonging to the plant family Caryophyllaceae. This species grows in sandy, dry, acidic soils. It reaches a maximum height of 15 cm, and produces white flowers that measure 2 to 5 mm across. Historically, the plant held economic importance as the main host plant for the Polish cochineal.
