About Scioglyptis lyciaria (Guenée, 1857)
Scientific name: Scioglyptis lyciaria (Guenée, 1857)
Introduction Scioglyptis lyciaria, commonly called the white-patch bark moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Geometridae, found in Australia. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1857.
Life cycle Females lay eggs in the crevices of host plants during April. Egg colour varies between individual females. When first laid, eggs are closer to a cream colour. As eggs mature, their colour changes sequentially through yellow, green, and finally brown. Eggs are oval in shape, with microscopic crenulated ribs. After hatching, larvae feed for two to three months, then pupate inside a cell constructed in soil. Adults emerge after remaining in this soil chamber for two months.
