Scilla hyacinthoides L. produces bluish-purple flowers on flowering stalks that grow 1 to 1.5 meters (3.3 to 4.9 feet) high. Its flowering season runs from March through April. This species is native to several regions: France (including Corsica), Italy (including Sardinia and Sicily), Greece (including the East Aegean Islands), Yugoslavia, and the Middle Eastern areas of Turkey, Lebanon-Syria, Iraq, and the Palestine region. It has been introduced to additional locations: Portugal, Spain, Algeria, the US states of Texas and Louisiana, and South Australia.
