Schmidtia pappophoroides, with the scientific name Schmidtia pappophoroides Steud. ex J.A.Schmidt, has multiple common names across languages: meerjarige Kalaharisandkweek in Afrikaans, ǀkhurub in Khoekhoe, ongorondji in Otjiherero, beye-ǁxui-doa in Juǀʼhoan, and Ausdauerndes Fünfborstengras in German. It is a perennial grass that is part of the grass family Poaceae. This species is native to southern and western Africa, as well as Cape Verde. It can be used to thatch roofs, and it is a valuable fodder grass in Namibia.
