About Schizotechium jamesianum (Torr.) Arabi, Rabeler & Zarre
Schizotechium jamesianum, also known as Torreyostellaria jamesiana, is a perennial herb that grows from a network of rhizomes with tuber-like swellings. Its stems reach a maximum height of 45 to 60 centimeters, are four-angled, and are usually at least partially covered in glandular hairs. The thick, lance-shaped leaves can grow up to 15 centimeters long, are arranged oppositely along the stem, and are sometimes rough and hairy. Its inflorescence forms a cluster of flowers at the tip of the stem or in the leaf axils. Flowers that grow in leaf axils are sometimes cleistogamous, meaning they never open. Open flowers have five white petals with two lobes at their tips and usually have ten long stamens.
