About Schizostachyum glaucifolium (Rupr.) Munro
Schizostachyum glaucifolium (Rupr.) Munro is an evergreen, clump-forming bamboo. It typically grows to 15 metres (49 ft) in height, with a culm diameter of 8 centimetres (3.1 in). Its culms are yellow and woody, marked with green stripes, and the species has thin culm walls and long internodes. This bamboo is native to the South-Central Pacific, specifically the Marquesas Islands and Society Islands of French Polynesia, and to the Southwestern Pacific, including the Samoan Islands and Fiji. It has been introduced to Hawaii. It grows best in tropical or subtropical climates, and is found most often along river and stream banks, and on hillsides, at elevations between 0 and 900 metres (0–2,953 ft) above sea level.
