Its distribution ranges from Ontario and Quebec in Canada southward into the United States. Within the United States, it has been recorded in Illinois, New Jersey, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas. The larvae of this moth feed on plants of the Erigeron genus.
