About Schinia lynx Guenée, 1852

Schinia lynx, commonly known as the lynx flower moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. This species has the scientific name Schinia lynx Guenée, 1852, but was first described by Augustus Radcliffe Grote in 1881. It can be found in North America, ranging south from Wisconsin, southern Ontario, Quebec, and Maine to Florida and Texas. Confirmed occurrences of the moth have been recorded in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, New York, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Oregon. This species produces one generation per year. The larvae of Schinia lynx feed on plants from the genus Erigeron and the species Heterotheca subaxillaris.
