About Schinia bina Guenée, 1852

Schinia bina, commonly known as the bina flower moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Noctuidae. It was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1852. Its range extends from Mexico City north to Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada, and east to central Florida. While Schinia meskeana is likely a distinct valid species, it is currently treated as a synonym of Schinia bina, and this classification will remain unchanged until a formal taxonomic revision is published. The wingspan of this moth measures approximately 11 millimeters. This species has one generation per year. Its larvae feed on Verbesina encilioides, Gaillardia pulchella, and members of the hawkweed group of species.
