Satyrium membranaceum Sw. is a species of ground orchid that is endemic to the south and western Cape Province. Compared to most other Satyrium species, it is a more slender and delicate plant. Its inflorescence is less dense than the inflorescences of related species like Satyrium coriifolium and Satyrium carneum. Flower color varies among local populations of this species, ranging from nearly red to pure white.
