Sarcocapnos enneaphylla (L.) DC. is a perennial plant with a generally creeping growth habit. It has a woody base and flexible, clump-forming stems. Its leaves are long-stalked and compound, with segments that are rounded oval, almost heart-shaped, and end in a pointed apex. The flowers of this species are white or yellowish, with purple coloring at their tip. The outer petals are much longer than the inner petals and are split into two lobes. The upper petal has a short spur that is inflated at its apex. The ovaries each contain two ovules. The fruit is elongated and compressed. This plant flowers from winter through summer.
