About Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn.

Sapindus mukorossi Gaertn., commonly known as Indian soapberry, washnut, ritha, or Chinese soapberry, is a species of tree in the family Sapindaceae. This deciduous tree grows in the lower foothills and midhills of the Himalayas, at altitudes up to 1,200 metres (4,000 ft). It is native to Nepal, Indochina, southern China, Japan, Taiwan, and the western coastal regions of Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa in India; it is known by many indigenous peoples across its native range. It tolerates reasonably poor soil, can be planted around farmers' homes, and a single mature tree can produce 30 to 35 kilograms (66 to 77 lb) of fruit per year.
