About Samea baccatalis

Samea baccatalis is a species of moth belonging to the family Crambidae. It is distributed across North America, with confirmed records from the U.S. states of Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Texas. This moth has a wingspan that ranges from 22 to 24 mm. Its forewings are a dull golden yellow shade, with a slight overlay of fuscous coloration. Each forewing features three groups of dull white spots, all of which are bordered by a blackish tone. The hindwings are yellowish, and turn translucent whitish toward their base. Distinct crosslines are present across the central region of the hindwings. Adult Samea baccatalis have been recorded in flight from March through December.
