About Salvia urticifolia L.

Salvia urticifolia L. has common names including nettleleaf sage, nettle-leaved sage, and wild sage. It is a herbaceous perennial plant native to the southeastern United States. This species is an erect plant that grows between 20 and 70 cm (7.9 to 27.6 in) tall. Its flowers have a corolla approximately 1.2 cm (0.47 in) long, and most often are blue or purple, occasionally white. Flowers are arranged in panicles on short pedicels. The lower lip of the flower has three lobes, with a pair of white marks extending from the flower throat. The leaves have crenate margins, a shape similar to the leaves of Urtica species.
