Salvadora hexalepis is a striped snake native to the southwestern US and northern Mexico that lays 4–10 eggs yearly.

About Salvadora hexalepis (Cope, 1867)

Adults of Salvadora hexalepis have an average total length of 20 to 46 inches (51–117 cm), with a maximum recorded total length of 58 inches (150 cm). This species has a distinctive thick curved scale that lies over the top of the snout, with edges that are free from the snout. All known subspecies have yellowish base coloration, marked with blackish lateral stripes that vary in arrangement between different subspecies. The dorsal scales of this snake are smooth, and its anal plate is divided. The geographic range of Salvadora hexalepis extends to the southwestern United States, where it occurs in Arizona, southern California, Nevada, southern New Mexico, and southwestern Texas. It can also be found in northern Mexico, specifically in the Mexican states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, and Sonora. In terms of reproduction, females of this species lay 4 to 10 eggs during spring or early summer, and the eggs hatch between August and September.
